The two fight again with Sora winning once again. Sora and his pals go on to fight Maleficent, both in her normal form and as a dragon, and defeats her both times.ĭeeper in Hollow Bastion, Sora meets Riku once more who announces himself as Ansem. During this encounter, the Keyblade returns to Sora due to the darkness in Riku's heart. From there, Sora travels briefly with the Beast from Beauty and the Beast until he finds his former companions.ĭonald and Goofy leave Riku's side to rejoin Sora. Here, Riku takes the Keyblade from Sora, which results in Donald and Goofy traveling with him instead. Sora and Riku once again encounter one another in Hollow Bastion. Riku is manipulated by the sorceress Maleficent into believing that Sora had replaced both him and Kairi with his new friends, and becomes bitter about it.
Meanwhile, Riku is also looking for Kairi. Sora searches for his friends Riku and Kairi in his travels, but is unsuccessful for a long time. The three of them end up eventually traveling together. His journey takes him to Traverse Town, where he meets Donald and Goofy, who are looking for an important "key" and Leon. Sora allow his heart to join Sora's heart.Īfter a storm arrives at his home of Destiny Island, his peaceful island is invaded by the beings known as the Heartless. Sora in the middle of the chaos becomes chosen to be a Keyblade Wielder. There, he once again encounters Ventus' heart. Just before having to go home, Sora closes his eyes and visits the Dive to the Heart. At the end of Birth by Sleep, Sora and Riku are seen relaxing on the beach. They never interact but Sora does interact with Aqua.Īqua encourages Sora to save Riku if anything ever happens to him.
During the game, Terra visit Destiny Island and can be seen by Sora. In Birth by Sleep, Sora is seen hanging around Destiny Island, playing with his best friend Riku. This, in turn, creates a connection between the two, resulting in Vanitas resembling Sora and allowing for later events to transpire. Just before Birth by Sleep, Sora's heart and the heart of Birth by Sleep protagonist Ventus encounter one another and Sora is able to heal his heart. Sora is only four years old at the time of this game, taking place a decade before the events of the original Kingdom Hearts. Chronologically, Birth by Sleep is the oldest game in the series thus far.
